Just because someone draws something you were planning on drawing doesn't mean you don't have to quit on the picture.
You can still draw Celestia and Luna eating cake. In fact, by looking at other pictures drawn by other artists, you learn to draw more and even use some of their tricks in your pictures.
It's not called stealing art or stealing ideas. It's called referencing. We all do it to learn how to become better artists and writers. I do it all the time, like in my Steampunk Moonlit Star picture. I looked at other Steampunk pony pictures, looked for what worked best for me and used those pictures as references as I drew the sketch. (which is why it took all day to draw)

But then of course dA wouldn't care about a relatively unknown unpopular animal like the bilby going extinct because it's not a wolf or some popular animal.
I would've thought being related to the species Crash Bandicoot is would be enough to interest you but apparently not.
